WATE-TV didn’t wait very long to find a great sponsor and a great prize to back a great contest shortly after signing up with SocialNewsDesk. They put together a Diamond Earring Giveaway leading up to the Christmas Holiday and they’re now calling their first sponsored contest a major success. The Knoxville, TN (DMA 61) station not only made thousands of dollars off the contest, but both the station and the sponsor also received thousands of likes in less than one week.
Diamond Earring Giveaway
Peters Jewelers, a local jewelry store was approached with the possibility of running a contest on WATE’s Facebook page. They were willing to supply a pair of 14K White Gold Diamond Earrings. The station took a very simple approach to the contest by creating an easy entry form on the SocialNewsDesk platform for contestants to enter. Contestants only had to provide their name, email address, zip code, phone number and date of birth to be eligible to win. The other criteria was to click ‘Like’ on both WATE’s and Peter Jewelers’ Facebook pages.
A Package Deal
WATE-TV charged Peters Jewelers $6800 to run the quick contest. Here’s what was promised and delivered:

Peters Jewelers went from 395 Likes to 1,890, a 378% increase in Likes less than a week! The contest had a total of 2,449 entries. And as soon as the contest wrapped up, the sponsor asked to run another contest because of the success of this one!
