KAKE-TV Launches New Morning Show Promotion with SND Campaigns

KAKE-TV, innovative ABC affiliate in Wichita KS (DMA 65), launched a new hour-long 9:00AM lifestyle focused morning show, five days a week. When faced with the question of how to promote the new venture, the station found an opportunity to leverage media both on-air and online to not only promote the show, but win some revenue in the process.

The “10 Prizes in 10 Days” contest was born! KAKE secured 10 advertisers to contribute a prize worth at least $250 and pay a sponsorship fee of at least $1,000 each.

KAKE’s online contest portal was built in Social News Desk’s SND Campaigns engine. It took only minutes to launch and included features which encourage end users to “Like” both the station’s Facebook Page and the sponsor’s Facebook Page before entering to win that day’s prize.

KAKE published 33 posts to the KAKE Facebook Page promoting the “10 Prizes in 10 Days” contest and the paying sponsors. Using the SND Dashboard platform KAKE was able to easily follow all of Facebook’s rules for Branded Content posts. Then, SND Campaigns kept track of each post and its performance by automatically generating a slick, easy to read and easy to share report that also showed the sponsor’s growth.

Each sponsor received its own unique report with its logo and Page level growth. In addition, each report showcased the number of sponsored posts made, and the associated metrics such as Reach, Engagement, Likes, Comments, and Shares. KAKE’s 10 Prizes for 10 Days contest yielded a Total Reach of more than 226,000 for its posts.

The report also details the success of the contest by showing the total and unique entries as well as the number of emails sent and opened. And best of all, SND Campaigns created a custom report automatically for each advertiser!kake 2

Ultimately, KAKE used SND Campaigns to achieve all of its goals for the “10 Prizes in 10 Days” campaign:

  • Secure more than $10,000 in new digital revenue plus thousands in prizes.
  • Harvest email addresses for promotional and sales use.
  • Easily create and fulfill social campaigns to promote the broadcast.
